Andy Murray won his first Wimbledon title on Sunday to end the 77 year wait for a British men's singles champion with victory over Novak Djokovic.
The British No.1 made history on his fourth championship point to win 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 and become the first British men’s singles winner since Fred Perry in 1936.
Speaking to Sue Barker on court Murray told the crowd: “I know how much everyone wanted to see a British winner at Wimbledon. I hope you guys enjoyed it, I tried my best." Adding: "I'm so glad to finally do this."
Djokovic also said: "It was an honour to be a part of this match and this final."
The final game turned into one of the battles of the match with Murray having three championship points from 40-0. Djokovic fought back to deuce setting up break points with some courageous hitting, before the world No.1 netted a backhand to end the match.
