Social Spring Events 2020 in Charvil Community Tennis Club

COVID-19 UPDATE

21st MAY

CPC are opening the tennis courts. However, in order to comply with the 2 m social distancing, they are only allowing one court to be in use at any time.  Furthermore, CPC stated that there will be no casual tennis play.  Only CCTC Members and CPC's new Annual Family Tennis Pass members will be allowed to play but with the condition that they first book the courts in advance through their website agreeing to their terms and conditions.

Despite the fact CCTC will not be able to have open access to the courts or dedicated hours for club play/coaching etc until the pandemic has passed, CPC will not give the club any reduction of our fee for access to the courts.  The timing of the corona-virus pandemic, CPC's decisions re the restrictions outlined above and the fact that CPC are now in direct competition with the club by offering their Annual Family Tennis Pass, results in CCTC being unable to operate without a significant loss.

As a committee we have considered CPC's position and have reluctantly come to the decision that we cannot operate under these current conditions.  We have therefore advised CPC of this and asked them to engage with us again when all restrictions are lifted, and we are able to resume our full tennis programme. We will email you again when and if we can resume full club activities.

14th MAY

Charvil Parish Council are following all the Government announcements closely and have noted the change to allow the use of tennis courts. On Monday 18th May there is a full Council meeting where a discussion will be taking place as to whether they open the courts and if they do how they will operate them without any impact or compromise on safety for either staff or the general public.

So no tennis this weekend but hopefully in the week coming.

We will provide an update regarding the opening of the tennis courts following the meeting together with details of how to renew your membership.

Thank you for your patience at this difficult time.

23rd March

Unfortunately Charvil Parish Council (CPC)has made the following decision regarding the use of the tennis courts - their message is NO play on the tennis courts.

"We are continuing to closely monitor and follow all advice and guidance issued by the Government. In line with their recommendations came the CPC’s decision to close all facilities as of Monday 23th March, the tennis courts are part of the facilities that are closed. We will be making a sign to go on the courts advising they are not in use."

As you know, the new season starts on 1st April. In light of the decision by CPC all memberships we be on hold until further notice. Once the courts are re-opened we will adjust the prices for membership and send an email to all members.

As previously advice, all coaching sessions are cancelled.

Following the government and LTA guidelines, all coaching sessions including the after school club run by CCTC has been suspended until further notice. With regards to our Easter Camp we will keep you posted.

"In light of the Government’s statement on

Monday 16 March, LTA implemented an immediate suspension of activity it delivers.

LTA have further reviewed their position and a suspension is now in place for the foreseeable future, including all LTA organised training sessions and training courses.  In addition, all LTA staged and LTA approved competitions (grade 1 to 6) up to 20 April 2020 have been cancelled.

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, LTA will remain in communication with the Government and continue to assess the implications of their advice for tennis activities in Britain and all those involved in delivering them."

You can find out more, including links to the latest Government advice, via LTA's dedicated web page.

We will keep you updated on any changes from the LTA or Charvil Parish.
